Why Does Your Air Conditioner Not Work as it Should?

Is it broken? Do you have to buy a new one? We explain why the air conditioning does not cool as it should.

Summer has arrived! And it is synonymous with heat and high temperatures. You turn on the air conditioning after months without doing it and, surprise, it does not cool. All you get from it is unpleasant hot air. Is it broken? Do you have to buy a new one? Breathe as we explain why the air conditioning does not cool as it should.

Before we start, keep in mind that you need to take your time. Do not expect to turn it on and reach the perfect temperature at the moment. In most cases, you will need several minutes.

Gas

It is usually the first cause we think about when the air conditioning is broken, although as we will see, it is not the only one. If the installation was done well, to begin with, your air conditioner should not lose gas, unless there is a leak in the circuit due to vibration or corrosion. That is, if everything works correctly, the gas can last longer than the estimated life of the equipment, which is usually about 15 years. So, although it can happen, this element is not always the cause of the appliance not cooling.

Even so, sometimes it happens and this leak can be found in the refrigeration installation, in the outdoor unit or the indoor unit. You must be careful, as many times the experts resort to this explanation to argue the failure without it being true.

Starting capacitor

The start capacitor is the one that supplies to the motor so that it starts up. If your air conditioner works, but it is not cold, the cause of the malfunction may be due to the start capacitor, either the fan or the compressor.

In this case, the best option is to call a professional. At Universal Group INC, we have the best for you. Contact us.

Exterior temperature

If you live in an extremely hot area, your air conditioner will have to work harder to cool the room. If this is the case, the device could be blocked by the high pressure of condensation and stops. It may seem very basic, but it is a more common mistake than it looks. Make sure you set your remote at cool air mode, instead of heating or dehumidifier options.

These are the most common faults. If your air conditioning unit has a defect different from the ones we mentioned, we recommend you to contact a professional, so that they will give you a more concrete answer to your problem. And with a professional we mean that…

At Universal Group INC, we have the best experts on air conditioners. So do not hesitate to call us, we will help you solve your problem.

We also have an installation service.

Keeping your air conditioner in good condition is essential for it to work well.

What makes energy efficient homes

There are several options that can make an energy efficient property!
If you are considering investing in your property, energy efficiency would be an excellent place to start. Most of the market is open to properties that show green features, along with the benefits that come with it. Consider reduction of monthly payments on services and other perks of having specific installations within a property.  But what makes a home or business be energy efficient? You'll find out all about this term, and it's particularities today on our blog.

Aspects of an energy efficient property

There's more to a home than just a place to live. For a property owner, this should be an investment. For that to happen, the energy consumed within the property should stick to a small number. Electrical bills, for example, can be reduced by small but significant investments. And these can be achieved through financing!

Want to know what homeowners and constructors consider aspects of an efficient home? This is a list of things that can make any property much more efficient in the long run:

  • Insulation: most constructions don't focus on this particular feature when it comes to the reduction of energy consumption. A well-insulated property reduces the use of energy significantly, both to heat and cool down. The insulation needs to cover both bases, allowing the systems within the premises to consume resources on a reduced spectrum.

  • Lighting: some properties make smart use of the natural light. Others, not so much. The method of combining proper technical lighting with natural sources of light is incredibly useful to reduce consumption of electricity. Properties that are efficient make use of windows, skylights and solar responsive lighting, for example.

  • Water heating: the precious liquid is often used without paying proper attention to how it consumes energy. Most love a warm shower, but what does it take to heating water? Using efficient technology to heat it up guarantees not only the perfect temperature, but also a significant reduction in the time used to make it so.

  • Appliances: most of the electrical use of properties comes from devices. These, however, don't have to consume that much energy in most cases. Installing units that are more effective, having careful planning of electrical installations and so on, can represent a significant reduction in the consumption of electrical energy. Make sure to check labels before buying, to ensure a lasting reduction of the payments in your electrical bills.

  • Heating/Cooling spaces: cold weather and warm weather stopped impeding living conditions decades ago. But the methods used to keep the homes in these temperatures in a comfortable margin need to evolve too. That's why energy efficient homes focus on having heaters and air conditioning units that are designed to use energy efficiently and effectively, to reduce both usage and consumption of electric power.

  • Framing: if you're building up your property from scratch, then it's a good idea to do so with the proper framing units. These use techniques that make constructions more efficient, reducing waste and use of lumber products, as well as insulation. It also decreases labor work, while simultaneously making them structurally sound.

  • Roofing: these are one of the least considered bits when it comes to energy efficiency. They are fundamental to keep properties cold and reduce the consumption of energy to cool down spaces. The usage of reflective roofing, along with the use of solar panels as part of their installation, helps properties use energy in a smarter way.

An energy efficient home is made out of small but significant changes.
